Short Films
Rock Lobster
This film follows the story of a life-sized lobster that unexpectedly befriends a fisherman. However, what starts as an unusual companionship takes a dark turn when the lobster ultimately kills the fisherman. I made this film for my high school film festival. The theme was horror (might I say, not my favorite genre). Despite the struggles of only having my parents as actors, I am quite proud of the turnout. My script was quite rushed (so the storyline is a tad confusing) but It was a fun experiment.
Bank Heist
This film is about a failed bank heist. This short film was a project for my film studies class. We were told to mimic the style of silent films. I love this project (even though my sister and mother were getting tired of my directing). Though the outcome was not exactly what I was hoping for, I love this cute film with all my heart.
Socially Inept
This film is about a socially awkward girl and how she struggles and succeeds in life. This film was sort of a mistake, let me explain. Originally, I had planned a completely different film about a bank robbery. But the whole project fell apart when my lead actress left unexpectedly on shoot day. I was set to have no film at the camp premiere. I was destroyed. However, In a scramble, I wrote a new, much shorter script that I could shoot in just a few days, using whatever free time I had left. Despite all the setbacks and limited resources, I’m incredibly proud of how this film turned out.
Bird Calls
This film is about a birdwatcher who stumbles upon a murder and must find a way to survive. I made this film at camp having never used any professional equipment and having little experience directing with new people. Though many aspects of the film didn't turn out the way I wanted, I still really enjoyed making this film and getting the opportunity to work with so many talented people.
