Molly O'Neill
AP 2-D Portfolio
Here is my written evidence:
Identify the inquiry that guided your sustained investigation.

Initially, my focus was to have my portfolio be a look into the past, and I thought ghosts would be the perfect subject because of their abstract nature. Ghosts are something that can't simply be captured unless you use different techniques so I experimented with long exposures. I visited many buildings to find old structures where a ghost would be found. I visited ghost towns, old trains, abandoned buildings, and even my garage.
Describe ways your sustained investigation developed through practice, experimentation, and revision.

When I began my investigation I frequently used long exposure so my subjects would be blurred, in motion, and somewhat see-through. Some locations, however, were very bright so long exposure was not sufficient, instead, I would set up my tripod and take two shots, one with the subject and one without. This way I could overlay the images later and add sepia and blur. Digital cameras are a lot more efficient but for the full ghosty effect, I decided to shoot a few photos on film. I used double exposure for these shots and they turned out to be my favorite in my investigation.
Fun Fact: I got a perfect score on my AP portfolio (only 0.77% of submissions received this score in 2023)
